helps you and us. Covering the cost of our party before the party
happens, gives us the best opportunity to have a different kind of party
and still raise the funds needed to bridge the disparity between
tuition income and the actual cost of educating each child at Keystone.
Each year we bridge this gap of $200K-$300K through our fundraisers, the
generosity of individuals and corporations, and writing grants to

*Keystone Adventure School & Farm, Inc. does not discriminate in enrollment of students on the grounds of race, color, sex, or nation or ethnic origin.
The goal of Keystone Adventure School and Farm is to educate the whole child in a way that involves parents and children in the design and implementation of the learning process to encourage them to take ownership of their lives and education. Purposefully weaving and integrating pieces of the curriculum into units of study for the children is beneficial to all learners in the classroom environment. Keystone believes that children learn best when they are active participants in their own learning. Process learning brings a more joyful and meaningful learning experience than one driven by outcome-based learning.
Interest among children is immediately piqued when teachers facilitate a discussion and collaboration regarding the next unit of study. As part of the decision-making team, children help direct the class with each unit of study. It is the teacher/facilitator’s job to incorporate the appropriate and relevant curriculum into the unit. By incorporating the academic pieces into an all-encompassing unit, children can naturally work in all subject areas simultaneously. Keystone uses multi-aged and multi-leveled classrooms to allow students to work side by side with children outside their own grade level on current projects.
Finally, we consider the outdoors to be one of our greatest teachers. By caring for our animals, the children learn self-confidence, self-reliance, and an ability to work with others. The creek, the pond, and the woods provide respect for all forms of life, patience, and peace. Our basic belief in the restorative and strengthening power of outdoor play is reinforced daily.
At Keystone, we are dedicated to children and honor the different methods through which they learn. We believe that our "Magic in the Mix" of diverse learners brings the opportunity for all learners to find success. When children feel valued and recognized, their inherent sense of safety allows them to take risks in the process of learning. Our goal is to provide a safe environment where each child is encouraged to be a divergent thinker, problem solver, life-long learner, and one who relishes in learning from each and every mistake.
